1 Corinthians 2:14

1 Corinthians 2:14 NLT

But people who aren't spiritual can't receive these truths from God's Spirit. It all sounds foolish to them and they can't understand it, for only those who are spiritual can understand what the Spirit means.

Today, I felt compelled to share how deeply a particular verse impacted me, almost as if I were hearing it for the very first time. It amazes me how powerful and timeless God's word is. After years of immersing myself in scripture, it's incredible that a verse can resonate with such freshness and clarity. It’s a reminder of the living nature of the Bible, where each reading can bring new insights and revelations, no matter how familiar the text may seem. This experience has truly deepened my appreciation for the richness of God's message and the continual growth we can have in our faith journey. after you have been reading it for years? This is why we are called to read our Bible daily, actually, it is said that we should complete the Bible every year. This is something I am going to challenge myself to complete this year and the following years of my life.

Today's daily verse really resonated with me and highlighted the importance of reading our Bible every day. I’ve learned that we should aim to read through the entire Bible in one year and continue this practice annually. This year, I have decided to challenge myself to do just that.

So, I wrote all that and have not said what it is that resonated with me in these verses, and how it touched me. So here it is.

I believe that we should let scripture interpret scripture; this is the only way to truly understand God’s word. God says, "I am sufficient for you," and His word and ways are unchanging. They will stand forever, even when the foundations of the world are burned up and gone. My word will reside in heaven.

I want to take you to a thought-provoking and somewhat unsettling place—my mind—where I delve deeply into the interpretation of scripture. I love to analyze the texts, searching for keywords and phrases that I believe God intentionally uses to redirect our focus away from our own selfishness and desires rooted in the flesh. By examining these specific elements, I aim to uncover deeper truths that can help us grow in faith and develop a stronger connection with Him.

God opens with the phrase "people who are not of the Spirit." The Spirit in question here is none other than the Holy Spirit, a divine presence that guides, empowers, and enlightens those who embrace it. So I dove deep into these keywords and found this set of verses, which, to me, explains it all.

As Jesus prepared to leave his disciples, he conveyed two profound messages to them. First, he assured them that he was going to prepare a special place for each of them, a promise of a future filled with hope and belonging. Then, he explained that he must depart so that the Helper, sent by the Father, could come to guide and support them. He emphasized that this divine Helper would not be able to comes unless he leaves.

And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.

“If you love me, you will keep my commandments.  And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever,  even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.

“These things I have spoken to you while I am still with you. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. Peace I leave with youmy peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. You heard me say to you, ‘I am going away, and I will come to you.’ If you loved me, you would have rejoiced, because I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. And now I have told you before it takes place, so that when it does take place you may believe. I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming. He has no claim on me, but I do as the Father has commanded me, so that the world may know that I love the Father. Rise, let us go from here.

After reading these verses, I was amazed by how incredible it is that we can see what we see. They help us understand the reasons behind the divisions in faith. It becomes clear why many may believe they are saved but are not. Only God knows the heart, so it is He alone who can determine if someone is truly saved. However, Jesus provides this information so we can clearly identify who is genuinely seeking God versus those seeking the things of this world.

It's important to recognize that struggles manifest in various ways for different individuals. Each person or group grapples with their own unique challenges, which can create difficulty in assessing whether someone is truly saved. While we lack the ability to glimpse into the innermost thoughts and feelings of others, we can evaluate their character through their actions. This is precisely why God instructs us that "You will know them by their fruits," emphasizing the significance of observable deeds as a reflection of one's inner state.

“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit. A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire

Many people often struggle to understand when God speaks in parables. However, He did explain His reasons for this to the disciples, which is found in Matthew 13:10-16.

God instructs us to always speak in truth and love, but some people, including some Christians, mistakenly believe that speaking in love means always agreeing with others. This misunderstanding is far from the truth and can lead people astray. It's crucial to recognize that genuine love sometimes involves sharing difficult truths.

Little children, let no one deceive you. Whoever practices righteousness is righteous, as he is righteous. Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil. No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God's seed abides in him; and he cannot keep on sinning, because he has been born of God. By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother.

God tells us to test ourselves to see if we are in the right standing with Him.

Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you fail to meet the test!

Let a person examine himself, then, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup.

Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!

Let us test and examine our ways, and return to the Lord!

For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.

I want to take a moment to share a significant struggle I've been facing. When I engage in conversations with individuals who identify as Christians, I often find that their interpretations of faith diverge sharply from the teachings and principles outlined in the Bible. This disconnect can be quite disheartening, especially when I am seeking to have meaningful discussions that reflect a deeper understanding of the faith. The varying viewpoints not only leave me feeling puzzled but also challenge my efforts to grasp the essence of Christianity as it is written in the scriptures.

God guides us through His word, teaching us that His ways are constant while the ways of the world are continually changing. We are warned against being swayed by the enticing philosophies of this world. We should not love the things of this world, as everything in it is temporary and will eventually pass away.

See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ.

Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.

I would like to conclude with this final point: those who are lost can indeed be found. However, those who choose to rely solely on their own understanding will remain lost. Scripture tells us that it is the God of this world who blinds the minds of non-believers, and it is clear that this is a choice they make for themselves.

And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.

As always, may this blog find you and be a blessing to your growth in Christ Jesus.

Shalom & Peace.
