A moment with the Lord.
While I was looking for a moment with the Father, I was missing time with my wife. Today I went to a kingdom man book club meeting and learned a lot of things that I was doing in my life or household that was truly causing most of my issues.
Let me elaborate a little on what I am trying to say, because our time with God is the most important time you can have in your day, and you need that time. However, there is a time allotted for your wife and family and we must make time for. Today at the book club we spoke on a lot and here are some nuggets I got out of it in todays session. Here are the key thing and how they impacted me.
1. We spoke of the Olive tree and the significants and importance of its roots
2. The importance of dinner time conversations because family matters (LOL)
3. Being present.
4. Sacrifice
Number one the olive tree.
Let start with the olive tree and how deep the roots go and the purpose of the tree reaching that depth. I was curious to why the roots ran so deep and wide in earth and what was the purpose of this. I did some research and found the reason why the tree does this is to draw water from the land so that it will never be without water. I also believe one of the fathers there did explain this part but don’t believe I remember it.
God said every good tree will produce good fruits, but a bad tree produces bad fruit. Consequently, with the understanding of this you can see that we can either be in Christ and produce good fruit or creatures of this world and produce bad fruit we only need to make a choice on whom we will serve. For if you serve me, I will abide in you and you in me so that your foundation will be well rooted. The one who has this foundation are teachable; we must have a teachable spirit or God cannot work in us. We must be first be led before we can be leaders. This is done by staying in God word and around godly men of God (Kingdom Man) iron sharpens iron.
John 15:16 ESV
You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.
If we are well rooted in our homes with the wife and kids, it will be well received by our kids. The olive tree plays a huge part in our day to day live with our kids by helping us to understand how important it is to have a firm foundation in your household in order for it to work correctly.
Psalm 1:1-3 ESV
Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law, he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.
Through this meditation with the Lord, you build and strengthen your foundation so that you may be the rooted tree to your family. This is something that extends not only to your immediate family but will also be seen and experience through your extended family and community.
Matthew 7:24-27 ESV
“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”
I could actually go on with the olive tree, but I don’t want to be to long winded on this, but I do have one more thing. We spoke o the structure of the home dynamics with the father and the mother. When we get home, we should never change the dynamics of the home. Your wife has already established some key foundations for the day already, how rude would we be if we come in and start barking orders to the kids without touching base with the already set tone your wife has established. This to me is vital to a child growth and understanding of the rolls between a man and a woman or more importantly a father and a mother. I added the below link because it explains the importance of the tree to man kind which explains why it is used here to show the importance of being this to our family. Because through us as kingdom man they will draw life from us whether it be good or bad it is up to us. I like using this metaphor, I wish it was mind, here it goes, if you want what you feed your wife and kids to be good then you need to pay special attention to the dog you feed. It is written that in man kind there are two dogs one good one evil you feed the good dog you will gain good fruits but if you feed the fleshly dog, you will gain bad fruits which leads to death.
I hope this image help us understand this tree better.
Number two is dinner conversations.
Having dinner as a family, this one will be short I especially loved this one because one of the fathers there was already doing this, and pastor challenged us to start doing the same. The Pastor also wants us to come back on the follow session with how it went with us making this change. However, I wanted to go back to the father that was already doing it. If I remember correctly, he said by the time he has everything serve one of the daughters starts to pray and blessing the food. Consequently, if all was timed correctly wifey was coming in and they were ready to start eating as she walks in the door. Man, what a beautiful picture that is when I heard that my heart melted, and I had no words. Some of the conversations were of their day and activities which I believe ended up with laughter and finding out how their school day and workday was. So, I will now let you guys on a little joke and why I put family matters at the end of this. One of the other fathers there would tell his family at dinner time to hold up Im watching family matters and would be missing out on the dinner tine conversations. However, this did not go without a response from another father there explaining the importance of that time with the wife and kids because family does matter. This is where we all started to laugh, and I thought to myself that was on point.
To me this verse is a excellent verse for the dinner conversation.
Again, I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.”
This is good because we pray than eat and He said we will also be with us how awesome is that.
Number three being present.
This one to me is the most important of them all, love how the pastor said about being present. I believe it went like this, being there does not quantify you as being present which is well put because I know for a fact, I am guilty of that. However, if everyone is honest with themselves, I’m pretty sure we can all say we all are guilty of that every now and again. Being present is more than just being there it is taking time out of your day and giving your time to your wife and kids. Its talking interacting with them in every way possible. Like taking the time to sit with them and finding out what interest them. See these little things means the world to our kids more than we can imagine.
Number four is sacrifice
This was also good because I believe we have a wrong concept of sacrificing. Sacrificing anything for the ones you love is a requirement that you cannot go without doing. Look at the manger sacrifice Jesus did for us a true sign of love, so how much more should we do the same for the ones we love as well. When you love someone, you will put aside things you want for the things they want. We always look a sacrificing as something that is bad or unpleasant only. However, this is a wrong concept of sacrificing. Please do not miss understand I am not saying and not painful and hard to complete, what I am saying is that some of these unpleasant ones are the most gratifying.
As always may God bless all who come through this website and may the content bring you to a better understanding of God’s word.
