Being Bereans

Updated: Nov 7, 2020

I wanted to share some truths with the body of Christ that I believe we do not investigate enough. We as believers sometime listen to the thing around us and never discern what is true or false, we just accept it as true. Here is where as Christians we are not following God’s will for our lives, we are told in many places in scripture to test every spirit. Here are some verses that I hope will inspirer us all to see thing differently. We must not take every word that is utter to be true our job is to be Berean’s of the word.

2 Timothy 2:14-15

14 Remind them of these things, and solemnly charge them in the presence of God not to wrangle about words, which is useless and leads to the ruin of the hearers. 15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth.

Acts 17:10-11

10 The brethren immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea, [a]and when they arrived, they went into the synagogue of the Jews. 11 Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, [b]for they received the word with [c]great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so.

See we are supposed to test the things that is being preached to us so how much more should we be testing the world. The Bereans back then probably heard of Paul and Silas but did not truly know their intentions for them and their people. So, when Paul & Silas would preach to them, they would test every word said to see that God’s truth thru Paul would be affirmed. This is what God requires of all of us. Look there is so many false teachers out there that if you are not grounded in God’s word you will be deceived. We are not called to take everything to heart but yet that is what we do, unknowingly sometimes but nevertheless we do this which goes completely against what God calls us to do. The only way to prevent this is to rely on the truth and the truth alone will be what sets us free. We are told to line up every word spoken with the word of God to find it to be approved and true. What we do instead is take all that is said at face value with no questions asked. This is why we are where we are today. You will never have true peace without seeking truth and will always be deceive never knowing truth which is Jesus.

I don’t want to continue without giving you some verse to show you the truth on this matter.

When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

I don’t want to be to long winded on this, however it is important that we test everyone and everything to see it to be truthful or not because it is the duty of a saint to test the matter before accepting it. God never gave us a spirit of fear but of a sound mind so we may take every situation that comes before with a logical biblical approach. In doing this we are sure to most likely not agree with the response that is given through Gods word but you can bank on getting it right.

God will never fail the saints that follows his will, because the will of the Father is for us to live a more abundant life through His word. Know that in Christ Jesus you will always be led to all truth and the Bereans of that day knew this, do you, are we living as if we are following the will of the father when we support the thing that God in His word calls evil or sin. I beg to differ on this because look at today’s Christian I see no difference between them and the world. What I see in Christians today is the lack of belief in the Lord our savior and the miss placement of fear itself. What I mean by that is that as Christian it seems like we fear man instead of where the fear should be place and that is in God who will have the eternal say and judge us to that end. I will close with this verse and hope that it makes this last paragraph clear.

Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.

For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord

If you are of the understanding that we are eternal beings these verses will make perfect since to you, however if you are not clear on this, we are eternal souls and will be given our incorruptible bodies at the end. So, with that said our fleshly being has a shelf-life and will pass away. However, if we are willing to give this life up for Christ as he did for us, we will save that eternal life, our true existence.

Once again, I just want to say thank you so much for reading my blog. If this has blessed you please share my page.

May all who reads this blog be richly blessed.

God bless you
