Is a believer supposed to support the things of this World?

Updated: 1 day ago

I know that this will be controversial however, it is so necessary. We have been so desensitized that we as Christians no longer know right from wrong or hold to true biblical values. Today’s Christianity is no longer Christian it's now called conservative Christianity. However, I agree with that notion of Christianity but that is not supposed to be the bases of our belief system, our belief is in Christ Jesus alone. The problem with adding this adjective to our faith it moves us away from the truth and begins to move us according to the things of this world.

As a fellow Christian, I understand the importance of being conservative, but I firmly believe that this should not be the sole determinant of one's faith. We must acknowledge that some Christians may face challenges in this area, and it is unfair to judge them based on this alone. After all, what message are we sending if we do so? Sometimes, we act without considering the impact our actions may have on those around us. Christianity has numerous biblically-based aspects that hold significant importance. Consequently, we choose this thing instead and want to ride its headlong into what I believe will lead people to destruction. I’ve seen first-hand what this is doing and how many are being led astray. People God has made it simple we are not to follow the ways of this world nor be part of the things in it meaning let their affairs be there’s. Subjectively speaking I am not saying we shouldn’t stand against things that are clear violations of God’s words we are called to do so in a peaceful matter like people do today. However, this movement is not like that, and I will share why.

This movement is following the path led by a man whose ways are not God’s ways. So let's first look at the things they are calling for from pastors. They are calling a pastor to war, saying if a pastor or leader line to pick up a musket and fight, they need to basically go home. Here’s a picture for those who do not know what a musket is.

I by no means am saying I am against guns for I have a couple myself so that is not what is being said here. I know many will look at this and think I am saying not to ever fight well that is not true. There will be times you will be called to fight or fight but only you can make that decision when it happens. However, there is one time I can tell you clearly when you need to fight and that is for your wife and kids. God has made it clear that every man should die for his wife as He died for His bride the church. I don’t want people to get this wrong but what they want to do is not how God calls us to handle things. God says he will deal with them that choose to do the things that are evil in the world. God also said that vengeance is His.

Husbands love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her,

One who is wise is cautious and turns away from evil, but a fool is reckless and careless.

The prudent sees danger and hides himself, but the simple go on and suffer for it.

Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.”

I shared these verses so you can see God’s heart in all these concerns, for He will deal with the unjust.

We are no longer called to do things on our own and God will not ask us to do them for Him anymore. I will share verses where God at one time did call us to fight and told us how and what we were to do but we never did as ask. Therefore, God changed His ways and now it is all in the embodiment of Christ Jesus.

1 Samuel 15:1-9

And Samuel said to Saul, "The Lord sent me to anoint you king over his people Israel; now therefore listen to the words of the Lord. Thus says the Lord of hosts, 'I have noted what Amalek did to Israel in opposing them on the way when they came up out of Egypt. Now go and strike Amalek and devote to destruction all that they have. Do not spare them, but kill both man and woman, child and infant, ox and sheep, camel, and donkey.'" So, Saul summoned the people and numbered them in Telaim, two hundred thousand men on foot, and ten thousand men of Judah. And Saul came to the city of Amalek and lay in wait in the valley. Then Saul said to the Kenites, "Go, depart; go down from among the Amalekites, lest I destroy you with them. For you showed kindness to all the people of Israel when they came up out of Egypt." So, the Kenites departed from among the Amalekites. And Saul defeated the Amalekites from Havilah as far as Shur, which is east of Egypt. And he took Agag the king of the Amalekites alive and devoted to destruction all the people with the edge of the sword. But Saul and the people spared Agag and the best of the sheep and of the oxen and of the fattened calves and the lambs, and all that was good, and would not utterly destroy them. All that was despised and worthless they devoted to destruction.

Now if you know this story, you know that God was very unhappy with Saul because Saul did not do as God told him to do.

Deuteronomy 20:16-20

But in the cities of these peoples that the Lord your God is giving you for an inheritance, you shall save alive nothing that breathes, but you shall devote them to complete destruction, the Hittites and the Amorites, the Canaanites and the Perizzites, the Hivites and the Jebusites, as the Lord your God has commanded, that they may not teach you to do according to all their abominable practices that they have done for their gods, and so you sin against the Lord your God. "When you besiege a city for a long time, making war against it in order to take it, you shall not destroy its trees by wielding an axe against them. You may eat from them, but you shall not cut them down. Are the trees in the field human, that they should be besieged by you? Only the trees that you know are not trees for food you may destroy and cut down, that you may build siegeworks against the city that makes war with you, until it falls.

So, you can see that this tactic does not work because we will always want to keep some goods for ourselves.

This is clear as well in the New Testament God tells us that bad or evil company corrupts good morals, and this is what God, is saving us from.

Do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good morals.”

Here God makes it clear why He wants the whole of the land to be destroyed. God told them that if any of them were left that the people would end up following their traditions which was an abomination to the Lord.

We must understand that God has set us apart from this world because the thing of it is evil and not for us to try to fix. God did not call us to go fix the world because He knows that only upon His return can the world be corrected. God said to come out of her and be set apart.

As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.”

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

And have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator.

I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and spirit, bringing holiness to completion in the fear of God.

Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? What accord has Christ with Belial? Or what portion does a believer share with an unbeliever? What agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; as God said, “I will make my dwelling among them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Therefore, go out from their midst, and be separate from them, says the Lord, and touch no unclean thing; then I will welcome you, and I will be a father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to me, says the Lord Almighty.”

So, I want to go on a rant on the conservative thing because this is where the rubber hits the road. Subsequently, this is where the main issue lies. We love 💗 using the term conservative Christian and don’t even see the irony of the statement and how it is used to change where we truly stand for or better yet with who.

See when we as Christians start to use the terms of the world as our own that is a huge error. We are playing into their hand, and we are being led to a completely different narrative, one they want us on. This is not what God spoke about through Paul. When spoke of being like them too so we can reach them it is not what people think it is. I say this because I see a lot of people using that scripture to explain that people doing this are doing what is right. Well, I say if they are doing it in a way to follow the world it's wrong and this is exactly what happens. Here is the verse and let me help people see it in its true form.

1 Corinthians 9:19-27

19. For though I am free from all, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win more of them. 20. To the Jews I became as a Jew, in order to win Jews. To those under the law I became as one under the law (though not being myself under the law) that I might win those under the law. 21. To those outside the law I became as one outside the law (not being outside the law of God but under the law of Christ) that I might win those outside the law. 22. To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some. 23. I do it all for the sake of the gospel, that I may share with them in its blessings. 24. Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it. 25. Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. 26. So I do not run aimlessly; I do not box as one beating the air. 27. But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.

Here Chuck Smith does an awesome job explaining this verse. I want to thank my Bible study 📖 instructor for speaking to us about using commentaries and how it helps people understand the word of God better. So, to my brother Dan thank you 🙏 for that reminder.

However, I will add that he was not talking about being like them or even living like them. If you read Paul’s letters or write clearly and believe that is what he met, then you have another issue it is just that you want your way to being the right way like all of mankind. Paul did not live as they did, nor did he accept anything from them so that they would not believe him to be doing this just for the money they do today. What he was simply saying is that he would study their culture, their way of living, and how they socialized with one another. Paul did these things for two main reasons it shows that he cared about who they are, and more importantly so he would understand them better to minister to them.

When you read all of Paul’s writings you can see what is being said here and it is not that you are to live like the world so you can win them over. For if that were true all the text that tells us that we should not do the deeds of this world would be a false statement from God. However, I say to you that God’s word is never wrong or inaccurate.

Here let me share some verses to this point, so I can put the nails in the coffin for this topic.

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.

We know that we are from God, and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.

I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people—

You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore, whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.

Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul.

And I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, keep them in your name, which you have given me, that they may be one, even as we are one.

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.

These things I command you, so that you will love one another. “If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.

Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would have been fighting, that I might not be delivered over to the Jews. But my kingdom is not from the world.”

But now I am coming to you, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have my joy fulfilled in themselves. I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one. They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.

Now is the judgment of this world; now will the ruler of this world be cast out.

The world cannot hate you, but it hates me because I testify about it that its works are evil.

“I have manifested your name to the people whom you gave me out of the world. Yours they were, and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word.

I also want to add that America and the whole are now under judgment because of our evil ways, so how can we sit here and do a tour all over America when everything that is happening, I believe is a judgment from God Himself? God said that when a nation comes against Him that He would give them up to their depravity.

Romans 1:18-32

18. For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. 19. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. 20. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. 21. For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22. Claiming to be wise, they became fools, 23. and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things. 24. Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, 25. because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen. 26. For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; 27. and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error. 28. And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. 29. They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, 30. slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, 31. foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. 32. Though they know God's righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.

I could say more but I will leave it here in the hope you see my heart in this.

My hopes and prayers to all who come through my site are to learn more about our heavenly Father and that you would study His word for yourselves. In 1 Peter God says to be prepared in season and out of season to explain the hope that we have within. I will leave you with that verse and as always may God richly bless all who pass thru my blog. God bless you all.

Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.

But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect,
