John 8:42-47 NIV
Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I have come here from God. I have not come on my own; God sent me. Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say. You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. Yet because I tell the truth, you do not believe me! Can any of you prove me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth, why don’t you believe me? Whoever belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God.”
I started with these set of verses because of what people are saying about once saved always saves. So, I will let the verses of the bible speak on this topic. I first want to make clear that I am not speaking on my own understanding but what the word of God states.
Let’s begin, God here in these verses is speaking to the leaders of that day in reference to who is truly leading them. Because in all they do is evil. Which is not the same as the ones who truly belong to God. This is very simple, if you believe and follow the decrees of the lord and savior then you are of him. However, if you say you belong but do the will of the devil then you are of your father Satan. It’s not that complicated so I will provide some background on what I will be addressing on this topic in hopes to enlighten you.
For by grace, you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
This should help you understand that we come to God through Christ and not by works. This must be made clear so you can see how this truly works, it is of God that we are saved and if we believe this than how can we deny it. I believe there are people claiming to be saved but are wolves in sheep’s clothing.
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’ “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”
This to me is self-explanatory but for those that may need some clarity let me elaborate. So, for the purpose of explaining this topic here where the rubber meets the road. When we say we follow the lord but still do the things of this world how can we say that we are saved or are followers of the most High-God. This is the same as a person who is live in fornication, adultery or as a homosexuality lifestyle. These are the things that proves that they are not of the Father in heaven.
Jesus is very clear here but for some reason people don’t want to accept the bible for how it reads, they choose to use their own interpretation of scripture and believe in the lies being portrayed in the world. This is the same as people that choose to sit under the false teaching of the day. We are called to be discerning on all we do and to test every spirit that comes before you.
Consequently, you are not to trust the things of this world because the ruler of it is evil and all who follows his decrees are evil as well. The ones that belong to Him will know Him and live for Him. God here calls all who do not follow his decrees is like foolish man and great will be his fall. How can people read this and misinterpret it, here is how they choose to listen to a false teaching on the topic, they choose to be persuaded by their earthly desire or Satan. You may think I am being harsh, but I am not there are so many verses on false teachings in the words of God and a lot of them came from Jesus. Jesus Himself spoke on this because he knew that this would be our challenge in the last days.
So let me break down how living for Jesus looks like.
1. We must affirm His word as written
2. Hold to the true doctrine of scripture
3. Stand against all thing that opposes the words of God
4. Stand against same sex marriage
5. Stand against abortion, the murdering of innocent babies
6. Stand against the LGBTQ movement
7. Stand against name it and claim it teachings of the day
There is so much more but I am sure that you get the point.
2Jo 1:4–11 NKJV
I rejoiced greatly that I have found [some] of your children walking in truth, as we received commandment from the Father. And now I plead with you, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment to you, but that which we have had from the beginning: that we love one another. This is love that we walk according to His commandments. This is the commandment, that as you have heard from the beginning, you should walk in it. For many deceivers have gone out into the world who do not confess Jesus Christ [as] coming in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. Look to yourselves, that we do not lose those things we worked for, but [that] we may receive a full reward. Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son. If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house nor greet him; for he who greets him shares in his evil deeds.
God is very clear about these things, but so-called believers choose to leave out the truth of his word and confuse those who are new in Christ. But there is a strong warning to who ever accepts that practice, God says here you will share their punishment. I look at some of these verses and it tells me that after you are saved you must walk according to his will, and this will show your fruits. However, I know some may want to see it differently and that’s ok, but the word of God is what I always want to reference too and not my own thoughts or opinions.
So here in these upcoming verses I will end this blog with some of God’s words in hopes to bring clarity on this topic.
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand.
Jesus tells us here that we are given to Him by His Father, and no one can take us from Him. If God says we cannot be taken from him then how is it that we fall away. Consequently, there is only two things that happens here a person was never saved, secondly, they choose to walk away. See this is not a person losing salvation but deciding to go against it, which God does speak of.
For it is impossible, in the case of those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, and have shared in the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the age to come, and then have fallen away, to restore them again to repentance, since they are crucifying once again the Son of God to their own harm and holding him up to contempt.
For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a fearful expectation of judgment, and a fury of fire that will consume the adversaries. Anyone who has set aside the law of Moses dies without mercy on the evidence of two or three witnesses. How much worse punishment, do you think, will be deserved by the one who has trampled underfoot the Son of God, and has profaned the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has outraged the Spirit of grace? For we know him who said, “Vengeance is mine; I will repay.” And again, “The Lord will judge his people.”
I believe that there is more to write on this, but I will end it here and continue on this topic later.
As always God bless all who comes upon this page, hope that it brings all to a closer walk with the Lord.
