I have been silence on the issue of who Christ Jesus is. Because at one time in the very beginning of my walk with Christ I didn’t think it was important, but I was wrong. I want to explain why I was, and how very important it is. When I first came to Christ, I was so in love with my Lord it was probably more toxic than a true understanding of who He is to me, and to my life. I believe we all go through this type of feeling at a man or a woman goes through their honeymoon, we go through that period in our lives with the Lord.
However, we must learn how to hold that long suffering passion for Him as we grow, we can’t stay in the honeymoon aspect of our walk with Christ Jesus. in God’s word it is called being in the milk of His understanding but we must come out of the milk so we can learn how to consume the meat in His word. Consequently, this is how we grow with the Lord, we are called out of the baby food of His word, and we start to learn of the meat and potatoes of God’s word. So, this is where the road met the rubber for me.
So put away all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander. Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation— if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good. As you come to him, a living stone rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious, you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 6 For it stands in Scripture: “Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a cornerstone chosen and precious, and whoever believes in him will not be put to shame.” 7 So the honor is for you who believe, but for those who do not believe, “The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone,” 8 and “A stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense.” They stumble because they disobey the word, as they were destined to do. 9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. 10 Once you were not a people, but now you are God's people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
After being matured in his word I came to a different understanding of God’s attributes and the importance of them. Jesus said in His word to those who deny me on earth I will deny you before my Father. I will explain why this verse is very important and even more so with this. Jesus quoted this verse twice in His word and if you understand the importance of God’s word you know if He says once it’s a command, but I say what do you think it means if He repeats it. WOW!!! That to me is scary.
So, I will share with you what God says we must first do so that we may be able to follow him with an easier understanding and with less resistance of his word. We need to first deny ourselves and then the clouds of confusion in this world can be cleared and His word revealed. Here in Luke, it explains.
Luke 9:23
And he said unto all, If any man would come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
So, before I go into the interpretation of this let me explain what it met to pick up your cross in those days, the days of Jesus Christ. In the days of Jesus when a man or a woman was to pick up their cross it literately met that they were going to die. So, when Jesus say’s for you to pick up your cross and follow Him he is saying that you must be willing to die for Him who is the barer of truth. See when Jesus was on the scene people who pick up their cross die for His word the truth.
Here you can see that we must learn to first deny the things of this world and then you will be able to interpret the things of the Lord. However today the people of God like to use the science to see if the word of God makes since. This is a study straight from the pit of hell and Satan, which does not help us to get a true understanding of Gods word. God tells us that we are to do the exact opposite of what the world tells us to do. Now think of this carefully who always does the opposite of God’s will, Satan and that is who we are following when we, being children of the most High-God do these things. It is imperative that we look to God’s word to see whatever we are looking into to be true. We must never compromise our stands in God’s word for this is our rock and foundation of what we view as truth or false. I found the below phrase online and I know we all know this, or at least should know this but it was fitting for here.
By blinding the minds of men to the true gospel of God, Satan has set himself up as a counterfeit of the Creator God. As the prince of the power of the air, he broadcasts his evil, rebellious attitudes to all humanity, and except for those whom God has called out of his deceptions, the whole world lives under his sway (Ephesians 2:1-3; I John 5:19; Revelation 12:9).
So here are the two verses in two different books where Jesus speaks about denying Him.
For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words, of him will the Son of Man be ashamed when he comes in his glory and the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.
But whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven.
Ok enough with my ranting and back to the topic, so God’s attributes are very important more so than we can even imagine. This can mean life or death, so we need to get this one right. Now with that said, it is very important for us to get the right gospel.
I will share some verses where God tells us who he is from the very beginning till now, this to me will make it clear.
I and the Father are one.”
Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own authority, but the Father who dwells in me does his works.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am.”
He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.
“I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one,
Here was a good clip I found online I thought was a pretty good a simple explanation of our Lord and Savior.
There was a debate online between two youtubers about if Jesus is God, why did he have to ask for the cup to be removed from Him. To me this was a strawman argument and should have easily been refuted. You can look at this so many ways, but I will give one example of this to help bring clarity to the question or argument. God tell us that when we are married, we become one, but the order of the union is God, Jesus, man and then woman. But at no time are we to disrespect one another. Consequently, this is what we are called to do, we are called to communicate with one another on the things we’ve already talked about. God is the one who sets the laws in the lands of this earth not man, so we need to be careful how we wheeled His words and laws.
God said in His word that two or more must bear witness to all things done on, in and under the earth. When Jesus was asking the father, He wasn’t asking for permission He was speaking in terms of understanding, meaning it was not that Jesus didn’t know that this was coming because Jesus was clear on why he was sent. This was to Him speaking to the Father on a decision God made with Him while He was in heaven with the Father, and the question was that is there any other way for this to be satisfied. He knew what He had to bear was asking for another way to do it.
Consequently, this is the same as a man and women that come together, they become one as it says in scripture. If the couple has a child that does something wrong the father goes to discipline him for what he or she did. However, the mother says to the husband do we have to do this, and he sit her down and explained why it need to be done and she agrees. See here the wife could have made an argument against the punishment but after hearing the argument she agrees instead. This is not to say they haven’t talked about the types of punishments they would execute when a child dose something it is just to see it that was the correct punishment.
Please this is just to bring an understand of the Father and the Son, I by no way comparing this to anything God has done. nor do I want to minimize His work on the cross. This is just to help those that are confused about the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. I will add the verses from Luke, so you can make your own observation of what Jesus did. For in these verses, you will see the compassion from the Father to the Son.
Luke 22:41-43
41 And He was withdrawn from them about a stone’s throw, and He knelt down and prayed,
42 saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless, not My will, but Yours, be done.”
43 Then an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him.
